To how many countries can your passport take you without needing a visa? For the average traveler, it’s a fun fact for a trivia quiz or geography bee. For many ultra-rich global entrepreneurs, it can be a metric of financial security, and a motivator behind purchasing a second or third passport for prices that can soar into seven figures.

The UAE has advanced yet another position in the Henley Passport Index, achieving the highest spot yet for an Arab nation. Ranked at 15, the country has a visa-free/visa-on-arrival score of 175.

The UAE is the only Arab country ranked on the list of the world's top 20 most powerful passports in the first quarter of 2022, according to the Henley Passport Index.

As of Tuesday, South African passports rank at number 51 in the Henley Passport Index, an important survey of passport power – up from a ranking of 58 in 2021.
